A BRILLIANT IDEA:
It was one morning at breakfast time when my daughter showed me some cute boots and said: "Can you imagine boots like these that you could turn into ankle boots by removing the shaft?" She excitedly explained that you could have two looks in one pair of boots, plus you could mix and match the shafts to create your own custom designs. My reaction was to ask her, "Doesn't something like this already exist?" Without thinking too much further, we got online to look for boots with this feature, and to our surprise, there was nothing even close to the design floating around in our heads! And... with euphoria and a huge rush of excitement, we said, "Why not?"
As soon as her dad and sister arrived, we told them this idea, and right away they saw it just as clearly as we did.
From that moment on, this story began.
THE BIG DECISION:
The next day, we got in touch with a professional in this industry, who my husband happened to know, because we wanted to learn everything there was to know about this unfamiliar topic and find out if such an idea was feasible. If thinking that this could have a future was already surprising for us, hearing it straight from the manufacturer—who has spent over 40 years in the footwear industry—was even more so: he had never seen anything like this in his life, and the idea could absolutely work.
In that exact moment, we made the decision to move forward with the idea for "zip-off boots".
